Mild Steel (MS) Solid Rivets are heavy-duty mechanical fasteners used for creating permanent, high-strength joints in structural steelwork and heavy fabrication. Unlike blind rivets, MS solid rivets consist of a solid cylindrical shaft with a factory-formed head on one end. The structural logic of the solid rivet involves "upsetting" the shank; the tail is hammered or pressed (often while hot) to expand the diameter and form a second head. This process completely fills the drill hole, creating a joint with exceptional shear strength and fatigue resistance. In Nepal, these are traditionally utilized in the fabrication of steel bridges, heavy industrial gates, pressure vessels, and agricultural machinery where vibration and structural loading are constant.
